A RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS

FIRST RESPONDERS GO ABOVE AND BEYONE

In today's edition of the Good Stuff, it's the little things that count.

65-year-old John McCormick of Baytown, Tex. was in the middle of mowing his lawn when he collapsed.
Firefighters showed up and followed the ambulance to the hospital, where McCormick later passed away.
Yet the firefighters, strong even in the face of tragedy, had one more job to complete.
They returned to McCormick's house to finish mowing the lawn.
"I just happened to get off the truck first and grabbed the lawnmower first. We were all fighting over it," said firefighter Blake Steffenauer.
The team of firefighters later left a handwritten note for McCormick's wife, Patsy.
"We felt bad that your husband didn't get to finish the yard, so we did," they wrote.

It was the simplest of gestures that meant everything to McCormick's grieving family.
